O  International Truth and Justice Project (ITJP, na sigla em inglês) apresentou no Brasil e na Colômbia acusações de crimes de guerra contra o embaixador do Sri Lanka na América Latina, Jagath Jayasuriya, por seu papel em 2009, na fase final da guerra civil no país (1983-2009). O processo, lançado em Brasília e Bogotá na segunda-feira, 28 de agosto de 2017, alega que o general Jayasuriya tem responsabilidade criminal por ter sido comandante de unidades que cometiram ataques repetidos contra hospitais, atos de tortura e violência sexual, desaparecimentos forçados e execuções extrajudiciais.

The International Truth and Justice Project has filed war crimes charges in Brazil and Colombia against Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in Latin America, Jagath Jayasuriya, for his role in the final phase of the civil war in 2009. The lawsuit filed in Brasilia and Bogotá on Monday 28 August 2017 alleges that General Jayasuriya bears individual criminal responsibility as the commander of units that committed repeated attacks on hospitals, acts of torture and sexual violence, enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.
